Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Alamo - Main Engineering - CEO - Lt. James Vandergriff - 11:10) A barrage of phaser fire and torpedoes hit and missed the Alamo as it maneuvered ever so close to the enemy, USS Nimitz. James was up to his collar pips with damage reports and trying to keep the Alamo from going to pieces at the height of the battle. The engineering team had its plate full as the Alamo shuddered from the Nimitz's phaser fire. All of the sudden, from the enemy's last volley of phasers and torpedoes, the power levels dropped 12% from previous readings to 60%. The engineering section was briefing in the dark as well as half the ship before the back up system engaged. James activated his personal lighting system on his uniform and muttered his way in the darken engine room to his control console to bypass the remaining power relays to key systems to maintain the fight for his captain. James was receiving his repair teams' damage reports from Deck 3 and Deck 4 where there had been a plasma fire from several blown relay junctions. The damage from the fire to those decks was too severe for his repair teams to effectively regain power, so James made a few adjustments from his station to re-route what remaining relays left to another decks, life support and defensive systems. Captain LaBeau made his presence over the comm channel in engineering. "Hold us together a while longer Mr. Vandergriff." James tapped his comm button in reply. "Aye Sir, doing the best I can with what I have down here. I have repair teams on every deck of the ship making sure we are still in the fight, Captain." (Reply LaBeau, anyone) (Posted by Nathan M. Williams) Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Alamo – Bridge – CO, Captain Henre LaBeaugriff - 11:15) =^= Aye Sir, doing the best I can with what I have down here. I have repair teams on every deck of the ship making sure we are still in the fight, Captain.” Henre didn't have time to answer his CEO as another volley of torpedoes was coming at them. "Mr. Jennings, hard right!" The torpedoes were dodged but barely and the explosions rocked the small ship. "Captain the shields are down to 29%!" Shouted Galk. Henre thought fast, there was no way he was going to be able to beat Nimitz now, sabotage and treason had stolen any hopes of victory. His only action now was to get away from this contact and figure out a way to take out the Trawler before they got away with the fuel. "Mr. Jennings take us under the Nimitz at less than 200 meters from her hull, we'll be partially protected from her weapons there. Run under her and turn aft and as soon as we are clear I want a hard turn to starboard and warp as soon as you can give it to me. Mr. Calder fire when we are less then 500 meters from her." The maneuver was risky but Lt. Jennings pulled it off, at less then 500 meters the phaser barrage hit the Nimitz low at decks 18-24 and much of the energy bled through the shields causing major hull damage, fires and explosive decompression, despite this though Henre knew he was beaten. The surprise was that just before they made it they lost their shields for a moment and before Mr. Vandergriff could bring them back online there was no finishing blow, Henre blinked at the lull in firing until Galk shouted. "Captain, transporter beam detected from the Nimitz!" Henre's mouth twisted as his FO spoke again. "Lt. Damas is gone sir!" Henre nodded but said nothing, as they came out from under the Nimitz the hard turn brought them out safely from the big ship and as soon as warp was achieved he called. "Heading 118 mark 3." Jennings looked back at him. "Captain that will put us in front of the Archimedes!" Henre nodded. "Oui Lt. That it will." James Vandergriff - 1117) As Captain LaBeau ended his transmission to engineering, James looked at his console. He saw what appeared to be a severe power drop off to the shield grid caused by an unknown source. James conducted a very quick diagnostic check of the shield generator and subsystems and found no significant damage to the relays or power conduits. He re-calibrated the diagnostic scans to pin point the leak or fallout. James for a brief moment blink his eyes and the shield power readings were at 62% and then blink once more the readings were at 29%. The automated computer voice activated. [Intruder alert. Intruder alert.] James was grasping for clues as to what was going on. At that moment, James tapped the comm control. = ^= Vandergriff to Bridge. Is everything alright up there? I'm getting odd fluctuating shield readings down here and there is an intruder aboard the ship. =^= (Reply LaBeau, anyone) James tried the reroute emergency power to the shield generators, but all his know-how he could not bring them up. James became a furious beast that when released his fury would be unstoppable as a warp core breach. To release his tension, James shouted out in rage. "Damn you, Nimitz!!!" I’m getting odd fluctuating shield readings down here and there is an intruder aboard the ship. =^= Henre touched the comm, "Negative Mr. Vandergriff, our saboteur has beamed off the ship, no incoming hostile reported." Henre looked at the screen where the Archimedes was growing. "Captain, the Nimitz is moving, it looks as though they mean to intercept us before we reach the Archimedes." Belite was rubbing life back into his numbed hand from the earlier shock. Henre turned back to the engineering station where Galk was monitoring the ship's systems. "Mr. Galk ready the warhead." Galk had looked up at his Captain's words and nodded then began pressing the necessary buttons. There was a sharp sizzle as the panel shorted and the Klingon reached beneath it for a fire suppressant. After contending with the arcing panel he moved to the OPS board and after working with it a moment turned to Henre, "Captain, controls for the warhead are inoperable." Henre gritted his teeth at the news, just another in a long line of recent bad reports. “Capt. I respectfully request permission to guide the warhead. I understand it is a suicide mission but someone must be there to pilot the warhead, we cannot let the rebels have the anti matter shipment”. Galk raised his head, looking up slightly and in his eyes was a far away look. “It will be a glorious death, one worthy of a Klingon and will assure my place in Sto-Vo-Kor”. Knowing that the Alamo will not survive this encounter Galk continued. “You too my friend will have earned a place on the ship of the dead to Sto-Vo-Kor, The resting place for warriors who have died with honor and glory” Henre locked eyes with his FO and friend and found not resignation but excitement at what was to come. "Very well Mr. Galk begin your preparations. When the Klingon had walked from the bridge he tapped the Comm. "Mr. Vandergriff I need all the power you can give me for the shields and phasers." (Reply: Lt. Vandergriff) Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Alamo - Warhead controls - FO, Commander Galk - 1119) As Galk settled into the small and uncomfortable chair and made the adjustments to the control panel before him he checked the status of the 26 quantum torpedoes that would be carried to his destination along with the matter/anti-matter charge in the nose of the Alamo that made up the warhead, it had its own impulse engine and when it reached its destination would make a satisfying explosion. As he finished he remembered his last truly satisfying moment with the power of a starship behind him. Galk saluted his captain and returned to the fire control station. "Captain I have the targets fed into the computer and am beginning the automated firing sequences. Torpedo for Target 1 away." The ship lurched slightly as the first torpedo leapt from the ship and sped toward the planet. The shield it needed for the tremendous heat the volcano help turned it slightly silver instead of the normal yellow orange. This was followed by the bright phaser beams lancing through the dark of space toward the preprogrammed targets on the planets surface. Galk could see the bright explosions from orbit, then Suddenly he saw the first Volcano return to life. More torpedoes sprang from the starship caring their destructive force to the doomed planet below. ~Magnificent~ Thought the Klingon as he reveled in the awesome power he had just unleashed. ~Truly Magnificent~. Galk was a Federation Citizen and would follow his orders to the death, but at heart he was still a Klingon and would always revel in destruction and the Heloi were no more. Galk tapped the comm panel and said, "Warhead is activated Captain, awaiting your orders." (Reply: Lt. As if there was nothing to be more upset at; but then as quickly as it started to James' astonishment, the shield readings stabilized. Captain LaBeau's voice returned. "Negative Mr. Vandergriff, our saboteur has beamed off the ship, no incoming hostile reported." James was relieved, but felt caution was wise nevertheless, due to the possible beaming of a spy during the fire fight to cause havoc with the ship's system. The engineering section was in constant repair mode making sure the ship was still functioning at emergency power levels. James straightened his uniform and regained his composure when the comm channel opened and LaBeau was speaking. "Mr. Vandergriff I need all the power you can give me for the shields and phasers." Captain LaBeau ordered. James responded, "Vandergriff here, Captain. I'm diverting power from secondary systems to the shields and weapons as we speak, Sir." (Reply LaBeau, anyone) Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Alamo- Main Engineering - CEO- Lt. James Vandergriff - 1121) James had some idea what Commander Galk was going for when the preprogrammed sequence for a warhead, which came across his engineering console, was inputted that could yield certain destruction against the enemy to prevent them from escaping with the precious anti-matter fuel cargo. James only wished that he had been the one to execute the glorious maneuver, but his heart was for the Alamo and nothing but the Alamo. James tapped his comm channel for a two way conference with the bridge and the warhead control room. =^= Vandergriff to Commander Galk. Sir, you have all the power I can muster from here. Captain, the ship is ready for a glorious fight! =^= (Reply LaBeau, Galk or anyone) (Posted by Nathan M. Williams)
